NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D.—The ninth-ranked University of Jamestown women's volleyball team started the season with a pair of victories Friday at the North Sioux City Tournament, defeating Morningside (Iowa) 3-0 and McPherson (Kan.) 3-1.

JAMESTOWN 3, MORNINGSIDE 0
- After falling behind 3-1 early in the first set, the Jimmies won seven straight points and went on to a nine-point win in the opener. UJ held off a Morningside rally in the second set, winning the final three points after the Mustangs took a 25-24 lead late. Jamestown closed out the match with a two-point win, once again foiling a Morningside comeback attempt in the late stages of the set.
- UJ hit .210 as a team with 43 kills and 18 errors on 119 attempts. The Mustangs hit just .108 in the match.
- Aleah Zieske recorded a 12-kill, 12-dig double-double in the match and hit .273 overall. Gracie Adamson added nine kills, while Lexi Olson, Charlotte Lempka, and Charlee Krieg each had six kills.
- Ellie Holen led the defense with 15 digs. Lempka finished with five total blocks and Lily Bertsch (21) and Tenley Buddenhagen (13) both reached double-digit assist totals.
JAMESTOWN 3, MCPHERSON 1
- The Jimmies bounced back from an eight-point defeat in the second set against McPherson, closing out the match with two straight wins to wrap up a four-set victory.
- Jamestown finished with a .166 hitting percentage but held McPherson to a .107 mark while handing the Bulldogs their first loss.
- Aleah Zieske had a team-high 20 kills and Charlotte Lempka added 11.
- Ellie Holen led UJ with 16 digs. Tenley Buddenhagen had 23 assists and seven digs while Lily Bertsch ended with 22 assists and eight digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- UJ won its season opener for the seventh time in the last nine seasons.
FOR THE FOES
- Claire Wilson posted seven kills for the Mustangs, while teammate Sydney Marlow had six kills and 12 digs.
- Katie Warden had nine kills and hit .280 to lead McPherson.
