TUCSON, Ariz.-- The University of Jamestown baseball team rallied from a 3-2 deficit to win the first game of their doubleheader 4-3 against No. 19 Benedictine Mesa (Ariz.) Tuesday afternoon, then settled for a split with a 6-4 loss in game two.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Trailing 2-0 as they came to bat in the top of the fourth, the Jimmies came through with a pair of runs to tie the game.
• With one out, Jordan Singleton reached on a single and moved to third base on Hayden Brown's double.
• Jett Nelson grounded out to short for the second out of the inning, but Singleton came home for the first Jimmie run while Brown advanced to third.
• Ryan Muizelaar followed with a single to score Brown and tie the score at 2-2.
• Benedictine Mesa retook the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth and held on to a 3-2 lead until the sixth.
• Brown singled to score Chase Burke and advance Riki Okamoto to third. Nelson then singled to score Okamoto and put the Jimmies in front 4-3.
• Luke Zimmer retired Benedictine Mesa in order in the bottom of the seventh for the complete game victory. Zimmer struck out five and walked two while giving up three runs on six hits.
• Brown, Muizelaar, and Alex Alva all had a pair of hits for UJ, who finished with nine hits overall.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Jamestown trailed 5-0 before getting on the board in the bottom of the third.
• Jackson Bonneville led off with a single, then came home on a two-out triple by Chase Burke.
• Benedictine Mesa answered with a run of their own in the top of the fourth to go ahead 6-1.
• UJ got a pair of two-out hits in the bottom of the fourth to get within 6-3. Ryan Muizelaar's double scored Hayden Brown, then Bonneville singled to score Muizelaar.
• Brown's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth made it a two-run game, but Jamestown was unable to get any closer.
• Bonneville was 2-for-3 at the plate and five other Jimmies had a hit.
• Ryan Radkey took the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) in three innings.
• Ethan Petty, Connor Nipp, and Brown combined to pitch four innings of scoreless relief of Radkey.

• The Jimmies are off on Wednesday before returning to the diamond for a doubleheader against Waldorf (Iowa) on Thursday starting at 10:30 a.m.
