Jamestown, N.D. – The University of Jamestown men's basketball team opened their season at home against Briar Cliff on Saturday evening. The teams fought a close battle, but the Jimmies ended up coming six points short. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Briar Cliff opened up the first half with four points, and the teams battled to tie at 10-10 with 12:44 to go. The Jimmies pulled ahead shortly after with a three from Spencer Barr. 
• Silas Bennion scored five points, and Ayden Stainbrook hit one outside the arc to start an 11-5 run. Eight straight points from the Chargers put them back in the lead with 2:40 to go in the half. 
• The lead went back and forth the remaining two minutes, but the Jimmies ended the half behind 29-31. 
• The second half was a two-to-three-point game until the Chargers began to pull away, gaining a double-digit lead with 8:32 to go. The Jimmies shots struggled to fall, but they managed to get back within two points with 1:14 to go. 
• Not for lack of effort, the Jimmies came up short as they were forced to foul resulting in a six-point deficit that ended the game (66-72). 

FOR THE JIMMIES 

• Silas Bennion led the team with a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds. He also shot 50% from behind the arc.  
• Jimmy Llinas followed with nine points and eight rebounds. 
• The Jimmies outrebounded the Chargers 42-36. 

FOR THE CHARGERS

• Matthew Stilwill led the team with 28 points. 
• Stilwill and Blake Sindelar each had six rebounds.
