Box Score JAMESTOWN, N.D.— The second-ranked University of Jamestown women's volleyball team won its 17th straight match Friday evening, defeating Mayville State (N.D.) University in three sets at Harold Newman Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A 4-1 run in the first set helped the Jimmies turn a small 9-7 lead into a comfortable 13-8 advantage following a kill by Aleah Zieske.
- The Comets got as close as five at 15-10, but UJ extended the lead to nine before winning byseven.
- Eight straight from Jamestown in the second set made it a 15-6 score before MSU put a small rally together to cut the deficit to 15-11.
- Zieske's kill made it 17-12 Jimmies, and seven straight points later, UJ had the Comets doubled up at 24-12.
- Mayville State held leads of 2-1 and 3-2 early in the third but it didn't take long for Jamestown to find its stride. A kill by Maddie Demars put UJ in front and they never looked back.
- Leading 9-7, the Jimmies finished the set on a 16-1 run and outhit the Comets .273 to -.167 in the third.
- UJ finished with a .267 to -.064 hitting advantage, racking up 40 kills to MSU's 18.
- Zieske had 9 kills, followed by Lexi Olson with 7 and Gracie Adamson with 6.
- Tenley Buddenhagen had 16 assists and 6 digs while Lily Bertsch added 14 assists and 4 digs.
- Ellie Holen had 13 digs and 4 aces. Olson finished with 3 aces and along with Charlotte Lempka had 5 total blocks.
