After playing 14 matches away from the friendly confines of Harold Newman Arena, the 16th-ranked University of Jamestown women's volleyball team was successful in its home debut Friday evening, defeating Dordt (Iowa) University 3-0. Set scores were 25-11, 25-19, 25-20.

It was the fifth straight win for UJ, now 10-5 overall and 3-0 in the GPAC. Dordt falls to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the GPAC.

The Jimmies host Briar Cliff (Iowa) University Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Aleah Zieske and Logan Sherman did the most damage for Jamestown, finishing with 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Darienne Johnson hit a team-high .667 with six kills, and the trio of Grace Hegerle, Lexi Olson, and Peyton Wilson each had three.

UJ was nearly perfect on the attack in the first set, hitting .450 with only two errors in 20 attempts. A 9-0 run midway through the set gave the Jimmies a 21-8 edge, and the home team won four of the final five points to take a 1-0 match lead.

The Defenders rallied to tie set two at 15-15, but used a combo block by Sherman and Johnson and a Megan Moser service ace were part of a 4-0 run that put the set out of reach. 

Zieske's fourth kill of the third set helped turn a 12-11 Jimmie lead into a more comfortable 16-11 cushion. Dordt would get as close as two points at 20-18, but UJ finished out the match with pair of kills by Sherman and aces by Zieske and Moser.

Lily Bertsch passed out 17 of the Jimmies' 36 assists, racked up nine digs on defense, and had a pair of kills. Paige Oswald added nine assists, and Tenley Buddenhagen joined Zieske, Moser, and Bertsch with two aces each.

Ellie Holen led all players with 20 digs, and Johnson registered four total blocks.
