Records: Jamestown 21-7, Viterbo 25-4

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Neither team held larger than a three-point lead in the first set until Jamestown went in front 19-15 after a Logan Sherman kill to finish a 3-0 run.
  • Viterbo closed the gap to 20-19 but kills by Charlee Krieg and Aleah Zieske helped UJ retake a 23-19 lead.
  • Zieske and Lexi Olson teamed up for a block to give the Jimmies a 25-22 set one win.
  • Set two was a back-and-forth affair until the V-Hawks opened up a 16-12 lead.
  • Down 19-17, Jamestown won five straight points and appeared to have Viterbo on the ropes.
  • Viterbo charged back to tie the set at 22, and the teams traded points until an attack error by the V-Hawks and a kill by Sherman provided UJ with the winning points.
  • The Jimmies led 3-1 in the third set but would not lead again until Olson capped off a 5-0 run with a kill to make it 21-20.
  • The V-Hawks got back-to-back kills from Martina McGrath to close out the set and hold off defeat for at least another set.
  • A 5-0 run in the fourth set brought UJ from 3-0 down, and the Jimmies would not give up the lead the rest of the way.
  • Jamestown led by as many as seven after Olson and Grace Hegerle combined for a block on McGrath to make it 20-13.
  • Hegerle had a pair of kills along with the match-winner by Krieg as part of the final four UJ points.
