Trapshooting club elevated to Shooting Sports intercollegiate program

The University of Jamestown is excited to announce that it is elevating its first year co-ed trapshooting club to a competitive intercollegiate program. The newly named program, Shooting Sports, will continue to focus on trapshooting during both the fall and spring; additionally, a competitive archery component will be added.

The elevation of the program was researched and evaluated due to the significant local interest and growth. Shooting sports are attractive for students from the region with over 400 schools competing in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, and more than 11,000 individual participants.

This competitive intercollegiate program will begin competition immediately. The University is currently in the process of accepting applications for the head coach position. Those interested may apply online at https://www.uj.edu/job/head-coach-shooting-sports

Dean of Engagement and Student Affairs Dustin Jensen states, "I am excited to bring additional student athletes to our campus to compete in this emerging sport. Additionally, our relationship with the Buffalo City Gun Club will provide the team with a high end practice facility and an inviting competitive environment. With the rise of competitive shooting sports in the region, we are excited to be a part of the growth and to engage the students at the University!"
