Kaiann Arellano and Jesse Hacker named Optimist Athletes of the Week

Kaiann Arellano (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) (women's track and field) and Jesse Hacker (SR/Alexandria, Minn.) (men's track and field) have been named Jamestown Optimist Club Athletes of the Week for the week of May 9-15, 2016.

Kaiann was named Field Athlete of the Meet at the North Star Athletic Association conference track meet, finishing first in the heptathlon, 1st in the 4 x 100 relay, 2nd in the high jump, 3rd in the long jump, and 3rd in the 400 meter hurdles. Kaiann scored 31.5 points to help the Jimmies win the team title in Forest City, Iowa.

Jesse won the North Star Athletic Association championship in the shot put on Friday with a career best throw of 48' 7 ½". Jesse also placed 3rd in the hammer throw with a heave of 137'10". Jesse also placed 7th in the discus.

Optimist International is an association of more than 2,900 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids." Adult volunteers join Optimist Clubs to conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be.
