Jimmies shut out at Mount Mercy

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Jimmie men's soccer team was held scoreless for the second time in three games as they dropped a 4-0 decision to Mount Mercy on Sunday.

UJ (8-4-1) trailed 1-0 in the 13th minute thanks to Marco Fichtner's 10th goal of the season, which was set up by Eric Pfau. Fichtner's goal was the only one in the first 45 minutes. The Jimmies managed just one shot in the first half, but were unable to put it on goal. Mount Mercy had eight shots, five of them on goal.

Fichtner scored his second of the game and 11th of the season just 54 seconds into the second half. Jamie Booth made it 3-0 for Mount Mercy in the 69th minute, as Filip Kovacevic received credit for the assist. Jamessor Minther rounded out the scoring, making it 4-0 with his 83rd minute strike. Felix Budde assisted on the goal.

Jamestown had four shots in the second half with two on goal, but were outshot again. The home squad had eight second half shots, three on net.

Marcelo Garza and Bailey Mangano had the UJ shots on goal. Matt Gutierrez had four saves in goal.

UJ hosts Waldorf on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
