Al Cassell Relays Move To Friday

The Jimmies have just one home track and field meet during the course of the season.

So, in hopes of beating the weather, they've moved Saturday's Al Cassell Relays up a day.

Friday does not look great weather-wise, but it does appear more promising than Saturday, which is forecasted to be miserable.

"We're hoping to beat the weather, that's not usually a very good bet, but we want to get a chance to compete at home, so we're going to try," Jimmie women's track and field coach Jim Clark said.

Field events will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, with track events set for 4:30 p.m.

There's a good chance of thunderstorms on Friday, but with reasonable temperatures, whereas Saturday's forecast calls for snow, rain, wind, cold - or just another day in the spring of 2011.

Minot State, Valley City State and Concordia are expected to compete along with the Jimmies.

Moving the meet up also gives the Jimmies an additional day before the DAC Heptathlon/Decathlon, which is scheduled for Sunday and Monday in Dickinson. The points earned in that meet will transfer to the DAC meet, which is set for May 13 in Spearfish, S.D.
