Greatest basketball memory:
During practice Bridget was running backwards in the Larson Center. She was going too fast or tripped over her own foot and fell backwards. Before she actually started falling she bursted out, "oh no!" No one knew what was happening but Hannah couldn't help laughing her usual outgoing laugh. The whole team stopped what we were doing and all had the best laugh, including Bridget and the coaches.
Morgan Mathison profile (Feb. 5, 2014)
Morgan Mathison
Morgan Mathison is a 5'7" senior wing from Dilworth, MN. She came to Jamestown for the opportunity to play basketball and get a good education. Morgan made good on both of those golden opportunities; in basketball, she helped the Jimmies to a team record 27 wins and Sweet 16 appearances in consecutive years 2011-13, while in school, Morgan is majoring in Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Planning and a minor in Character in Leadership…and has earned a 3.91 GPA along the way. In basketball, she has collected 510 points (91 three's), grabbed 198 rebounds, dished out 155 assists, and smashed 1 career blocked shot. Get that shot out of Morgan's defense! Okay, maybe saying 75 career steals sounds a little tougher for her defensive efforts.
Morgan said, "The life of a Jimmie is great. I have met a bunch of wonderful people, and I have made lifelong friends while being at Jamestown. Being a student-athlete has given me the best of both worlds while at college!"
Her favorite athlete is LeBron James. Her favorite food is Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo, and her favorite quote is from Lance Armstrong, "Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever." Other than basketball, she enjoys volleyball.
Her career goal is to pass the CPA exams and obtain a good position at an established accounting firm.
Morgan gained a lot from her high school assistant coach Tony Reno.
She would like to say to Jimmie Nation "Get out there and be as active as possible. Participate in as many programs as you can because I believe these activities are extremely beneficial."
Morgan has been very successful at Jamestown as previously mentioned. Otherwise, here are some of her other successes: Dean's List, Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, College Fellow in Accounting, Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Award, A.I.I. Female Athlete of the Week (11/25/12), 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete Award, 2013 A.I.I. All-Tournament Team, 2013 Champions of Character Award for Jimmie Basketball, Jamestown Optimist Club Athlete of Week (1/5/14), and she even did some volunteer tax assistance for the University of Jamestown VITA program..
Morgan, best of luck, skill, and prayers in your final games as a Jimmie and we hope you help the Jimmies to the NAIA National Championship and have good success beyond graduation.
