Hannah Steele Profile (3/2/14)

Hannah Steele

Hannah Steele is a 5'4" senior guard from Circle Pines, MN – she wears #3, which is the current Jimmie ranking in the latest NAIA Div II poll.

When she visited Jamestown, she wasn't "expecting much - however the second I stepped on campus I fell in love and knew this was where I belonged." Hannah says that being a Jimmie "means you're part of a family. A lifelong connection with people who genuinely care."

Since stepping on campus, she has made a definite impact, starting every game of her Jimmie BB career. As a Jimmie she has earned 100 wins in her uniform, dished out 604 assists to her teammates (#1 All-Time), and scored 1309 points (#7 All-Time). And she's not finished yet as the Jimmies have the NSAA and NAIA Tournaments coming up. Speaking of NAIA Tournaments, the Jimmies made the Sweet 16 the past two seasons, but the team is hungry for more this season.

Hannah and the Jimmies have beaten six top 25 teams this year: No. 5 Concordia (Neb.) (Nov. 8), then-No. 20 St. Ambrose (Iowa) (Dec. 6), then-No. 10 Midland (Neb.) (Dec. 19), then-No. 13 Morningside (Iowa) (Dec. 30) and then-No. 19 Briar Cliff (Iowa) (Dec. 31), and the #11 ranked Mayville State Comets (ND) (Feb. 8).

Hannah Steele is more than just a basketball player – she is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. Her goal after graduation is to "find a job in Seattle right away this summer, and to get settled out there."

Jimmie Baseball Coach and assistant athletic director Tom Hager said, "Hannah Steele is as quality of a person as I've ever met. She not only is a great basketball player, but she also has been a great asset to our athletic department in many ways. We all will truly miss her when she is gone."

Her dad is her biggest role model – and Hannah said, "He's instilled in me hard work, if you want something you go out and work for it, don't ever let someone just hand it to you."

She loves pizza, any kind of pizza, and also likes baseball. When asked about her favorite assistant coach, she said, "That's tough. Crummy knows what to say when I'm too hard on myself and Joseph makes me laugh- all the time."

Coach Crummy responded with, "I consider myself truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Hannah. Not only has she exceeded all of our expectations, she has set a new standard of excellence for all future Jimmies to live up to. Hannah is a great player, a great leader, and most importantly a great person."

An inspirational quote that she thinks on is to "Focus on being respected rather than liked. Man who wants to lead the orchestra must turn his back to the crowd."

Jimmie Nation needs to hear what Hannah has to say, "Thank you. For being the greatest fan base I have ever been a part of- I couldn't imagine a better 6th man."

We could list honors for a while, but we will just say 2012 All-American, 2013 All-American, and she had better be a 2014 All-American too. 604 assist sounds like a great person willing to help others – passing out dimes like candy to get her teammates success – and obviously the University of Jamestown is a lot better place because Hannah Steele chose to become a part of Jimmie Nation.
