Get to Know Garrett ... 

Who or what inspired you to start playing basketball growing up? 

• In 3rd Grade I was hanging out with my friend and he had a basketball game, so I went to it and wanted to sign up for basketball the next year.                  

Do you have any pregame superstitions or routines? 

• Do the exact warmup routine each game.

Tell us about your favorite basketball moment as a player or fan? 

• Winning a state championship with my high school team. 

Who is your favorite basketball player? 

• Stephen Curry 

What is one talent you have outside the game of basketball? 

• I can make a mean steak!

What do you hope every Jimmie fan says after they see our team play? 

• This team loves to play basketball together and plays with high energy.

Why did you choose UJ and what do you like about being a Jimmie student- athlete? 

• Great athletic facilities and academic programs. I like being a Jimmie Student-Athlete because there is a family feeling on campus! 

High School 

Kolbeck graduated from Tea Area High School. He was named to the Second Team All Dakota 12 Conference in 2021 and the Third Team All Dakota 12 Conference in 2020. Garrett also tied the school’s single-game record for most three-pointers made in a game with 9. As a highlight of his career, he helped lead Tea Area to a state basketball championship in 2019. 

Personal 

Garrett is the son of Rob and Missy. He is majoring in Exercise Science with plans to go to UJ PT school in Fargo when he graduates.
