Game Information
The Teams
The Jamestown men's soccer team comes into the game against St. Cloud State with a record of 0-1-3. The Jimmies last took a road trip to the Rocky Mountains where they tied Colorado Mesa University on Thursday 2-2, then suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday at Westminster University.
Andrei Filho and Nuutii Norhomaa had the two goals against the Mavericks. Netminder
Valon Ismaili made 20 saves across the two games last week, 10 in each contest.
With their two goals against Colorado Mesa, Norhomaa and Filho joined
Justin Junaid and
Sohiab Bouika el Haddad Kaddour as the goal scorers on the season thus far. Ismaili has played every single minute in UJs four games with an .826 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average.
St. Cloud State University is the only other Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference college to sponsor men's soccer besides Jamestown, being members of the Great Lakers Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The program is still relatively new as 2026 marks the seventh season for Huskies men's soccer. Heading into the matchup against Jamestown, the Huskies are 1-2-0, winning their season opener against Truman State University, but falling in two straight to Quincy University and Division-I St. Thomas University (Minn.). Against the Tommies, the Huskies only lost 2-0, losing shots on gola 5-2, and total shots 16-11. Goaltender Erik Willke had three saves and Johan Lopez and Jovan Koceski recorded the two St. Cloud State shots on goal.
The Huskies are coming off a 2025 season where they went 4-12-1 with a 2-10-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Despite allowing an average of three goals per game, St. Cloud State has an elite offensive player in Andrés García so far. The native of Austin, Minn. has been a part of the program since the 2021 season and is fourth in the GLIAC in goals scored with three. These goals all came in one game too, after he carried the Huskies to a 3-2 win over Truman State with a hat trick. The only other St. Cloud State goal scored on the season came from Yousif Atia vs. Quincy. Willke has started all three games between the pipes with a 3.12 goals-against average and a .609 save percentage.
Historical Matchups
The Jimmies and Huskies played each other in both of the past two seasons. St. Cloud State took down Jamestown 3-1 in Minnesota in 2024, then 3-0 to spoil UJs senior day in 2025. Atia scored with 22 seconds remaining in the first half, then Andrés García and King Dwumah Acheampong notched tallies in the second half. All three goalscorers are returners for the 2026 Huskies roster. Shots on goal in that contest were 10-2 in favor of the Huskies.
