Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference came out with its women's cross country Weekly Release No. 4 on Tuesday. Jamestown's
Lydia Franson was named the NSIC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Augustana Invitational this past Friday.
Franson was the second finisher at the Augustana Invitational at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls, S.D. with a time of 20:38.0 (5:32 mile pace) in the 6-kilometer course. For Franson this shattered a career-best with her previous personal record at 21:58.9 in a 6K race at the Dordt University - Holiday Inn Express Classic (Oct. 11, 2025).
The sophomore from Cottage Grove, Minn. was the first finisher from an NSIC member school in a race in which contained eight teams from the Northern Sun. Franson and the Jimmies finished in seventh place out of 20 teams, and only behind Augustana University and the University of Mary among NSIC competitors.
The Jimmies will be back in action as they host the Jimmies Invitational at the Parkhurst Campground in Jamestown. The women's race is scheduled to kick off at 5:15 p.m.
