Burnsville, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released its women's cross country Weekly Release No. 5 this morning. Lydia Franson earned her second-straight Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week award after her first-place finish at the Jamestown Invitational this past weekend. Â
Franson was second to none in a field of 64 runners with a time of 21:55.0 (5:53 mile pace) in the 6-kilometer course. This was the sophomore's second-best time ever in a 6-kilometer race. Â
The Cottage Grove, Minn native joins Stella Rusch as the only women's cross country runners to earn NSIC Athlete of the Week on more than one occasion. Franson helped the Jimmies finish second in the home meet, only behind NCAA Division-I University of North Dakota. Jamestown finished in front of four other NSIC member schools in the race. Â
The next race for Franson and the rest of the Jamestown women's cross country team will be the Marauders Invitational in Bismarck on Friday, October 23. Â
