ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The University of Jamestown men's volleyball team was swept by Maryville (MO) on Friday evening at Moloney Arena.

Set-by-set highlights

Set 1 (Maryville 25, Jamestown 12):
Maryville established control early, using efficient hitting and strong play at the net to build a quick advantage. The Saints capitalised on several Jamestown attack errors and used a steady service run to extend their lead. The Jimmies worked to settle in as the set progressed, with Ethan Carroll and Lucas Soeldner contributing points offensively and helping generate longer rallies. Jamestown showed improvement in transition late in the set, but Maryville's consistency and low error rate allowed them to close out the opener comfortably.

Set 2 (Maryville 25, Jamestown 14):
Jamestown responded with more composure in the second set, finding better rhythm in serve receive and extending rallies on the defensive end. A mid-set stretch saw the Jimmies string together points behind contributions from Joshua Crowley and Soeldner, while the offense began to flow more efficiently through the setters. However, Maryville answered each run with strong side-out play and effective blocking, preventing Jamestown from cutting significantly into the deficit. The Saints used a late surge, to pull away and take a 2-0 lead.

Set 3 (Maryville 25, Jamestown 16):
The Jimmies delivered their most complete performance in the final set, showing improved offensive efficiency and better ball control. Jamestown generated more consistent scoring opportunities, with Soeldner and Ladarius Williams leading the attack and helping the team stay within striking distance through the middle portion of the set. Defensively, the Jimmies extended rallies and showed stronger positioning, forcing Maryville to work for points. Despite the progress, the Saints maintained their composure late, using a decisive run to create separation and close out the match.
