Jamestown N.D— The University of Jamestown softball team finished the Nelson Family Bubble Tournament #2 in dominant fashion, securing a doubleheader sweep over Bismarck State College on Sunday. The Jimmies utilized a historic pitching performance in the opener and steady offensive production in the finale to improve their overall record to 10-2 on the season.
Game 1: Jamestown 10, Bismarck State 0 (5 Innings)
The Jimmies opened the day with a flawless performance, holding the Mystics hitless in a run-rule victory.
The Lead: Jamestown exploded for five runs in the first inning and added five more over the next two frames to end the game early.
The Circle: Hope Ransome and Abby Blair combined for a 5-inning no-hitter. Ransome retired all six batters she faced, while Blair earned the win with three scoreless innings and three strikeouts.
The Bats: Trinity Gregg was unstoppable, going 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Madelyn Webb provided a major spark with 3 RBIs, including a sacrifice fly.
Turning Point: The Jimmies effectively ended the contest in the bottom of the first, tallying seven hits—including RBI knocks from Lauren Weigel, Maddie Spaeth, Madelyn Webb, Hope Ransome, and Kylie Yanzuk—to jump out to a 5-0 lead.
Game 2: Jamestown 6, Bismarck State 2
The Jimmies completed the sweep in the afternoon, relying on long-ball power and elite relief pitching to secure the 6-2 win.
The Lead: Jamestown broke a scoreless tie in the third and capitalized on Mystic errors to pull away.
The Circle: Maddie Hairgrove earned the win, pitching 5.0 innings and striking out three. Aubrey Quern was virtually untouchable in relief, striking out all six batters she faced in the final two innings to slam the door.
The Bats: Amanda Burch provided the exclamation point with a solo home run in the fifth inning. Trinity Gregg and Kylie Yanzuk both recorded triples, while Maddie Spaeth finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Turning Point: In the bottom of the fourth, Jamestown turned a 2-0 lead into a 5-0 cushion by capitalizing on two throwing errors and an RBI single from Maddie Spaeth.
