BABSON PARK, Fla. – The University of Jamestown Jimmies displayed significant grit and offensive growth Thursday afternoon, securing a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Webber International University. The Jimmies effectively controlled the pace of play to finish the afternoon with set scores of 25-23, 25-15, 22-25, and 25-19.
The Jimmies demonstrated impressive resilience throughout the match, bouncing back from a third-set setback to claim a decisive victory in the fourth frame to close out the contest. Jamestown's offensive engine found its rhythm early, particularly in the second set where the team hit a blistering .500. Overall, the Jimmies finished with a stellar .347 hitting percentage as a team and a dominant defensive presence at the net, out-blocking the Warriors 10 to 3. The match began with a tightly contested opening set that saw nine ties and two lead changes, but Jamestown's service pressure eventually kept the Webber International defense off-balance. Although the Warriors rallied to take the third set, the Jimmies showed veteran poise in the final frame to prevent a tiebreaker.
