Minot, N.D. - The University of Jamestown women's soccer team drew 1-1 with the Minot State Beavers on a chilly Sunday afternoon at Herb Parker Stadium.
The Jimmies overall record now sits at 4-5-4 while Jamestown is 4-3-3 in the NSIC after picking up a point in the tie. Minot State gets to 2-8-3 with a 1-6-3 conference mark.
Jamestown got its first corner kick of the game about 10 minutes in, and Vega Canada booted it to Marisa Brown right around the net, but Brown's header went marginally high. In the 11th minute, Ellie Dake saved a good look from the top right of the Jamestown box.
Both teams had about even possession the rest of the half, with some decent scoring chances on both sides. Goaltender Ellie Dake made a pair of saves while Vega Canada got Jamestown's first shot on goal late in the 44th minute following a corner kick.
The Jimmies were leading shots at the end of the first half 4-2, though only one of these attempts was on target. Jamestown got three corner kicks while the Beavers had one chance.
Into the 56th minute, Jamestown got a deep throw in which Vega Canada controlled it. Canada found an open Julliett Lopez right around the edge of the box, then Lopez dribbled around a defender, then took an angled shot from about 12 yards out. The ball whistled to the left of Alger, went off the inside of the right post, and into the net for the goal that broke the scoreless tie.
In the 72nd minute, Minot State pushed down the field and drew a foul along the left side of the Jimmies box. The ball was chipped right in front of the net, and with all the traffic in front, it was Emerson Perrin who got a foot on it first and put it into the back of the net for the game-tying goal.
The Beavers had another good crack at it with about 10 minutes remaining with a wide-open shot around along the top right of the Jamestown box, but it went left of the net.
A minute later, Julliet Lopez crossed the ball into a great position, but Alger punched it away before a Jimmie could get to it first and head it in.
It was the home team that dominated possession in the final 10 minutes. Things looked scary on multiple occasions with Ellie Dake cleaning up a few crosses and making a couple of saves as well.
UJ had one more chance in the final two minutes as they applied a bit of pressure themselves. The Jimmies got the ball to the top of the Minot State 18, and Andra Greer took a shot from around this area, but the ball did not get any air, and it was an easy save for Alger in what was the final Jamestown shot on goal.
The final buzzer sounded a bit after this, with each team earning one point in the NSIC standings on the 1-1 draw in Minot.
Lopez's goal was her team-best fifth of the season and her first point in three games. Canada, UJ's leading scorer from the 2025 season, notched her first assist of the season in the tie. Dake filled in for the injured Taylor Musser and made four saves on five shots in her first full game of her career.
Jamestown had a narrow margin in shots (11-9) and shots on net (6-5) in what was a very evenly matched game. Corner kicks were also won by the Jimmies 5-3.
UJ will head back to Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium for their final weekend at home. First on the schedule is Wayne State College on Friday, October 16 at 3 p.m.
