PARKVILLE, Mo. – The University of Jamestown men's volleyball team opened its 2026 season Thursday afternoon dropping a closely contested three-set match against Westcliff University falling 3–0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-22) at a neutral-site match in Parkville.
Jamestown opened the match with a strong first set, trading points throughout and staying within two late before Westcliff pulled away in the closing moments to take the set, 25-23.
The Warriors built momentum in the second set, jumping out to an early lead and maintaining control to claim a 25-16 win.
The Jimmies responded in the third set with their most complete performance of the match, generating consistent offense and keeping pressure on Westcliff until the final points. Jamestown remained within reach late, but the Warriors were able to close out the set, 25-22, to secure the match.
Offensively, Jamestown was led by Chase Hawkinson, who recorded a team-high six kills. Kaden Jenkins guided the Jimmie offense with eight assists, while Rowan Shaughnessy led the defensive effort with five digs.
At the net, Jamestown totaled five team blocks, highlighted by Brady Leppien-Christensen, who finished with two block assists. As a team, the Jimmies recorded 19 kills in the match.
The Jimmies will return to play Friday January 23rd against Ottawa University (Kansas), at 12pm in Parkville, Mo.
