Jimmies Kick Off Season with Opening Day Split

Nashville, Tenn. – The University of Jamestown Women's Volleyball team opened the 2025 season with a split on day one of the Ray Thrasher Volleyball Classic. The Jimmies swept Erskine College 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-19) in the opener before falling 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-21) to Alabama Huntsville in the night match at Trojan Fieldhouse.

UAH then pulled away with a 7-point run, with notable plays including two kills and three service aces by the Chargers, bringing the score to 22-14. The Chargers closed out the set with a block winning 25-17. 

 * Set 2: The Jimmies came out fighting, with an early service ace from Lily Bertsch to take a 9-7 lead. The Chargers responded, tying the game at 12-12. The game remained a back-and-forth battle, with multiple lead changes, until the Chargers took a late lead at 23-22. The Chargers ultimately won the set 26-24 with two straight kills by Caroline Moyer.

 * Set 3: The Jimmies kept the pressure on, tying the game multiple times with kills by Corbyn Menz and Ava Mueller. The Chargers answered with a strong five-point scoring run, to take a 22-17 lead. A late kill by Lily Bertsch tied the score at 21-21, but the Chargers secured the win with a final kill to close out the set and the match.
