JImmies fall to Northwestern College in 4-1 match

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – The University of Jamestown men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to Northwestern on the road at the NWC Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon. Though the Red Raiders managed to build an early lead, the Jimmies showed great effort in containing their opponent's attack for the majority of the match and successfully broke through to score in the second half.

Northwestern managed to build an advantage early in the first period, scoring three times in a quick span of six minutes. Drew Darnold started the scoring at 13:36, followed by Daniel Lindahl at 15:45, and then Diego Quintero at 19:55, giving the Red Raiders a 3-0 lead. The Jimmies' defense settled in effectively after this initial flurry, holding Northwestern scoreless for the rest of the half.

After Northwestern added a fourth goal early in the second period, scored by Rodri Perez at 49:04, the Jimmies responded immediately to get on the board. Felipe Costa successfully converted a penalty kick at 51:36, securing a goal for Jamestown and preventing the shutout. Goalkeeper Valon Ismaili played the entire match, recording two saves as the Jimmies worked to manage Northwestern's potent offense.

Jamestown will look to build on the competitive moments from this match when they take on Trinity Bible College in their next game on Thursday, October 2, at 4:00 PM in Ellendale, North Dakota.
