WICHITA, Kan. — The University of Jamestown men's soccer team fell 4-1 to Newman University on Monday afternoon at Wilkins Field.
The Jets took control early, scoring three times in the opening half. Cameron Schroder opened the scoring in the 21st minute, followed by goals from Gabriel Dias Juliani in the 28th and Tomas Melon in the 42nd to put Newman ahead 3-0 at the break.
Newman added a fourth in the 81st minute through Gio Orozco. The Jimmies continued to battle and were rewarded late when Freddie Tomkinson found the back of the net in the 89th minute, his first goal of the season.
Jamestown recorded seven total shots, with Tomkinson registering the lone shot on goal. Valon Ismaili finished with six saves while facing 22 shots from the Jets' attack.
The Jimmies return to action on Thursday, Sept. 27, when they travel to face Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa.
