Jimmies drop 3-0 match to St. Cloud State

JAMESTOWN, N.D. — The University of Jamestown men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 match to St. Cloud State on Wednesday evening at Charlotte & Gordon Hansen Stadium.

The visitors controlled much of the possession in the opening half, but strong goalkeeping from Dawid Chrobot kept the Jimmies in the match with seven saves before the break. St. Cloud State finally broke through at the 44th minute when Yousif Atia scored to put the Huskies ahead 1-0.

In the second half, Jamestown worked to create chances, with shots coming from Gael Castro, Felipe Costa, Elias Werner, and Kael Calder. The Huskies, however, continued to apply pressure. Andrés García doubled the lead in the 67th minute, assisted by Drew Macoritti, and King Dwumah Acheampong sealed the result in the 87th minute on a setup from Miklo Jones.

The Jimmies battled through a physical contest, picking up yellow cards on Albert Sjoestedt and Elias Werner. St. Cloud's Matthew Greenland was also shown a yellow.

The Jimmies return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they travel to face Fort Hays State in Kansas.
