JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Jimmie softball team won their eighth straight game Sunday evening, taking a doubleheader from Dakota State (S.D.) University at the Nelson Family Bubble, 8-0 and 7-2.

GAME ONE
- Hope Ransome and Maddie Hairgrove combined to shut out Dakota State on two hits as the Jimmies took the opener 8-0.
- A five-run second inning was the key for Jamestown, and Sydney Grendler's two run single through the left side brought home Kate Geiszler and Natalie Draper with the first Jimmie runs.
- Trinity Gregg reached on an error as Rylie Welk scored, then Lauren Weigel and Maddie Spaeth also drove in runs to round out the inning.
- Sidnie Aasen's sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth and Kaitlin McCartney's two-run single in the seventh accounted for the final three Jimmie runs.
- Ransome (6-4) struck out eight and walked only two in six innings while Hairgrove struck out two of the three batters she faced in her inning of relief.
- Geiszler and Spaeth each went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Gregg and Grendler both had two hits.
GAME TWO
- The Jimmies opened up a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the third and went on to a 7-2 victory to complete the sweep.
- Maddie Spaeth drove in Jamestown's first run with a first inning single, then in the second inning Tori Olson doubled in another run to make it 2-0. Spaeth later grounded out to score Olson with UJ's third run of the game.
- Kaitlin McCartney launched a home run to left center in the third to extend the Jimmies' advantage to 4-0.
- Dakota State cut the lead in half with a pair of runs in the third, but Jamestown got the runs back with two of their own in the sixth.
- Spaeth reached on an error to score Trinity Gregg and Kayla Quintanilla tripled as Spaeth crossed the plate to make it 6-2.
- Gregg drove in the final UJ run in the seventh with a single to left.
- Spaeth posted a three-hit game while Gregg, Quintanilla, and Kylie Yanzuk all had two hits.
- Abby Blair (8-4) gave up two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings to record the victory.
