DICKINSON, N.D. – The Jimmie softball team captured the 2025 North Star Athletic Association regular season conference championship Sunday afternoon with a 6-4 win over Dickinson State University at Bravera Field. UJ will be the top seed in the postseason conference tournament which begins on Thursday, May 1 in Dickinson.

GAME ONE
- UJ led 2-0 after one inning on an RBI triple by Kayla Quintanilla and an RBI single by Natalie Draper.
- DSU tied the game in the bottom of the third on a two-run single from Bailey Hansen.
- The Jimmies retook the lead in the fifth after Draper reached on an error by Blue Hawk shortsop Kara Conway to score Lauren Weigel, then pinch-hitter Hope Ransome brought home Quintanilla with a sacrifice fly to center field.
- DSU once again pulled even with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth, setting the stage for UJ's seventh-inning rally.
- Maddie Spaeth opened the seventh with a single and moved to third after Quintanilla doubled. Draper again reached on a Conway error, and Quintanilla and Spaeth both came home for a 6-4 Jimmie lead.
- Abby Blair (10-7) pitched three innings in relief, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits, walking one and striking out one.
- Weigel, Spaeth, Quintanilla, and Tori Olson each had two hits for UJ.
GAME TWO
- The Blue Hawks kept the Jimmies off the scoreboard in game two as Ava Jahner limited UJ to six hits, winning 3-0.
- All of DSU's runs came in the bottom of the third with one out.
- Jamestown's best scoring chance came in the top of the sixth after Trinity Gregg led off with a single and Lauren Weigel followed with a walk. A groundout by Maddie Spaeth moved the runners to second and third with only one out, but Jahner retired the next two Jimmie batters to maintain a 3-0 lead.
- Gregg and Kaitlin McCartney both had two hits. McCartney had UJ's only extra-base hit, a leadoff double in the seventh.
- Hope Ransome (10-7) took the loss, pitching five innings and giving up three runs on eight hits. She struck out three and did not issue a walk.
