VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Jimmie softball team split Saturday's conference doubleheader against Valley City State University on Saturday afternoon, winning game one 5-4 while the Vikings took game two by a score of 12-5.

GAME ONE
- After seeing a 3-1 lead slip away, Jamestown rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the seventh and took game one by a score of 5-4.
- Down 1-0 in the second, Trinity Gregg singled to score pinch-runner Marin Rasmussen and tie the score at 1-1.
- Lauren Weigel homered to left field to put UJ ahead 3-1 in the top of the fifth, but the Vikings got within a run in the bottom half on a bases-loaded walk.
- A two-run home run gave VCSU a 4-3 lead as the Jimmies came to bat in the top of the seventh.
- The first three Jamestown batters reached base, and Maddie Spaeth tied the game with a single to right field.
- With one out and the bases still loaded, Kylie Yanzuk drew a walk to force home the go-ahead run.
- Hope Ransome, who started in the circle and pitched the first 4 1/3 innings, returned in the bottom of the seventh and after allowing a leadoff single, retired the final three hitters for her fourth save.
- Maddie Hairgrove (8-1) was the winning pitcher for the Jimmies despite giving up two runs on three hits with three walks in 1 2/3 innings.
- Gregg (3-for-4) and Weigel (2-for-4) both had multi-hit games.
GAME TWO
- Six of VCSU's 11 hits in game two left the yard, and the Vikings handed UJ its first conference loss in ten games.
- An RBI double by Kayla Quintanilla in the top of the first gave the Jimmies an early 1-0 lead, but three VCSU home runs put the home team ahead 5-1 after one.
- With Lauren Weigel at third and Maddie Spaeth at first, Quintanilla hit a three-run home run to center field, and Jamestown trailed by just a run going into the bottom of the third.
- Two more home runs by the Vikings in the bottom of the fourth were part of a five-run inning, and the Jimmies were down 10-4.
- With one out in the fifth, Weigel hit her second home run of the day, then a two-run shot for VCSU in the sixth made the score 12-5.
- Quintanilla finished 2-for-3 with four RBI to lead the Jimmies.
- Abby Blair (8-6) took the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits in one-third of an inning.

- The two teams return to the diamond Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. to finish their weekend series in Valley City.
