JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The University of Jamestown softball team won twice on Friday, defeating Dickinson State 4-2 and University of Mary 8-5 at the Nelson Family Bubble Tournament.

GAME ONE vs. DICKINSON STATE
- Trailing 1-0 after five innings, the Jimmies got on the board in the top of the sixth. Trinity Gregg reached on a bunt single and moved to third on a double by Lauren Weigel. Maddie Spaeth singled to left, driving in the two runners for a 2-0 lead.
- Singles by Kaitlin McCartney and Sydney Grendler loaded the bases, and pinch-hitter Amanda Burch drew a walk to bring in Spaeth for the third run of the inning.
- In the top of the seventh, Hope Ransome drove in a run with a single to right as UJ took a 4-1 lead into the bottom half.
- DSU plated one run to make it 4-2, but Ransome came on in relief and struck out the final Blue Hawk batter for the save.
- Abby Blair (1-1) was the winning pitcher, working six innings and scattering six hits while allowing one run.
- Weigel and Spaeth each went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
GAME TWO vs. UNIVERSITY OF MARY
- Trinity Gregg and Lauren Weigel hit back-to-back solo home runs in the bottom of the first as Jamestown took an early 2-0 lead. Gregg's homer was inside the park, while Weigel's quickly left the yard over the right centerfield fence.
- Amanda Burch and Kate Geiszler each had an RBI in the third to make it a 4-0 game, then a pair of unearned runs in the fourth pushed the Jimmies' lead to 6-0.
- The Marauders got on the board with a two-run homer in the fifth only to see Jamestown counter with two runs in their half of the fifth.
- UMary cut the lead in half with three runs in the sixth but were retired in order in the seventh by Jimmie reliever Laura Ransome.
- Hope Ransome (2-1) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking one.
- Gregg, Weigel, and Burch all finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
