JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The University of Jamestown softball team rallied from a 5-4 deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to defeat University of Mary 6-5 Friday evening at the Nelson Family Bubble, avenging a 9-3 loss to Valley City State University earlier in the day.

UJ VS. VALLEY CITY STATE
- Defensive miscues hurt the Jimmies against VCSU, with four errors leading to five unearned runs.
- The Vikings took a 1-0 lead on Kennadi Stone's solo home run in the second inning.
- UJ answered with a run in the third as Sidnie Aasen came home on a groundout by Maddie Spaeth.
- VCSU tacked on three runs in the fourth, then a home run by Kylee Banerd in the fifth made it 5-1.
- Lauren Weigel and Aasen each had RBI singles as the Jimmies got within 5-3 going into the seventh inning, but the Vikings broke the game open with four insurance runs, all of which were unearned.
- Trinity Gregg had three hits, including a double, for UJ.
UJ VS. UNIVERSITY OF MARY
- Lauren Weigel and Maddie Spaeth each drove in a run for Jamestown in the top of the first, but the Marauders answered with a run in the bottom half to cut the UJ lead to 2-1.
- Hope Ransome's two-run double scored Spaeth and Kayla Quintanilla in the third to give the Jimmies a three-run lead.
- UMary went ahead 5-4 thanks to a four-run third inning, and maintained the lead until the top of the sixth.
- Hope Ransome led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a double by Natalie Draper. Following a walk to Kate Geiszler that loaded the bases, Kaitlin McCartney singled up the middle to score Draper and Ransome.
- Laura Ransome (1-0) earned her first win as a Jimmie with three innings of relief, giving up one run on four hits, striking out two.
- Hope Ransome picked up her second save, working two scoreless innings with a walk and two strikeouts.
- McCartney, Draper, and Hope Ransome all had two hits.
- Spaeth swiped a pair of bases while Quintanilla and Trinity Gregg each had one.
