Jimmies Fall in Three to No. 23 Mavericks in Mankato

Mankato, MN – The University of Jamestown Jimmies Women's Volleyball Team fell to the No. 23 ranked Minnesota State Mavericks in straight sets on Friday night at the Taylor Center. Despite forcing extra points in a thrilling second set, the Jimmies struggled with offensive consistency, finishing the match with a team hitting percentage of .066 compared to the Mavericks' .175.

TOP PERFORMERS

Addison Brooke (#20): Led the Jimmies in offensive efficiency, recording 9 kills on a strong .500 hitting percentage. She also contributed 2 assisted blocks.

Corbyn Menz (#11): Tied for the team lead with 7 kills and added 11 digs and 1 service ace.

Ava Mueller (#15): Contributed 5 kills and a block assist.

Momoka Minamiya (#16): Led all Jimmie players with a match-high 26 digs, anchoring the back-row defense.

Ava Bertsch (#14): Led the team with 17 assists and added 9 digs.

KEY MOMENTS AND MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

• Set 1 (25-20, MSU WIN): The Jimmies struggled with offense, hitting just .023. The set was tied six times, but a mid-set 6-0 run by the Mavericks gave them the lead. The Jimmies had a late block from Caroline Puetz and Addison Brooke to cut the lead, but Minnesota State closed the set 25-20.

• Set 2 (28-26, MSU WIN): This highly competitive set featured 11 ties and seven lead changes. The ending of the set saw the Jimmies' reliance. The Jimmies fought off one set point when an attack error by the Mavericks' Jaelyn LaPlante tied the score at 20-20. A kill from Corbyn Menz assisted by Lily Bertsch kept the score tied at 24-24, and an attack error from the Mavericks earned the Jimmies a set point at 25-24. However, Minnesota State fought back, and a final kill by the Mavericks sealed the 28-26 marathon win for the Mavericks.

• Set 3 (25-15, MSU MATCH WIN): The Mavericks opened the set with a decisive 4-0 run. The Jimmies could not recover, struggling with four attack errors. Despite late kills from Kyleigh Schopp and Addison Brooke, Minnesota State closed the set 25-15 to complete the sweep.
