Jimmies Kickoff Season With Victory Against #14 Campbellsville

The University of Jamestown men's volleyball team won their first match at the Gray Wolf Invitational in Sylvania, Ohio against #14 Campbellsville University (Ky.) Thursday evening at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jamestown was back and forth with the Tigers until a kill by Tomasz Swiderski and Gaven Hackley gave the Jimmies a three point lead 13-10
  • The Tigers answered back going on a 3-0 run but the Jimmies answered by going on their own 8-0 run sparked by 3 Gaven Hackley kills and 5 errors by the Tigers 25-16
  • In the second set, UJ got a kill and ace from Tomasz Swiderski which gave the Jimmies a 6-2 which was too much for the Tigers to overcome 25-18
  • The Tigers fought back in the third set going on a 12-1 run taking a commanding lead led by 2 blocks and 2 kills from Pedro Zavatini to make the score 18-6 and take the third quarter 25-14
  • Jamestown rallied back in the fourth holding the Tigers to a -0.77 hitting percentage and going on a 7-0 run (16-9) followed by another 4-0 run (20-10) to take the fourth set 25-13
