WEST FARGO, N.D. – The University of Jamestown swimming and diving team finished competing at the Dragon Invite, hosted by MSUM, on Saturday. UJ finished in fifth place in the team standings of the two-day event with 428.5 points.
On Friday, the Jimmies opened with a fifth place finish in the 200 medley relay, with the team of
Sulinke Vandenberg,
Emma Pickrel,
Dagbjorg Hlif Olafsdottir, and Kyle Price clocking a time of 1:53.25. Vandenberg placed fifth in the 200 back with a time of 2:12.31, and Olafsdottir took sixth in the 200 breast in a time of 2:35.66.
Finishing out Friday's events was the 200 free relay team of Vandenberg, Price,
Sofia Labrozzi, and
Lacie Robideau, who took fifth in a time of 1:44.47.
Saturday's morning session saw Vandenberg claim fifth in the 100 back (1:01.45) and Olafsdottir (1:11.19) and Pickrel (1:11.25) taking seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100 breast. Vandenberg (25.62), Price (25.64), and Olafsdottir (25.75) placed seventh through ninth in the 50 free.
The evening session started with the 400 medley relay team of Robideau, Pickrel, Vandenberg, and Price finished sixth in a time of 4:14.82. In the 50 back, Vandenberg turned in a time of 28.52 to finish fifth, and Olafsdottir was seventh in a time of 28.77. Pickrel was the top UJ placer in the 50 breast with a time of 32.56, and in the 50 fly, Olafsdottir turned in the Jimmies' top place (seventh, 28.09).
In 1-meter diving,
Jada Shorter finished sixth with an 11-dive score of 335.40, and
Becky Czarnecki was eighth with a score of 303.50.
Vandenberg took seventh in the 100 IM (1:04.04), and in the final race of the invite, the 400 free relay team of
Lindsey Goodrich,
Miche Johns, Olafsdottir, and Robideau placed seventh with a time of 3:53.25.
Jamestown is back in dual action on Friday, January 24, when they host University of Mary.
