THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Jamestown 2, Northwestern 0
LOCATION: Charlotte & Gordon Hansen Stadium, Jamestown, N.D.
RECORDS: Jamestown 3-4-3, Northwestern 3-3-3
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UJ had a pair of scoring chances in the first 12 minutes with shots by Felipe Azevedo and Alejandro Tocino Vidal.
- Northwestern's best chance for goal came in the 40th minute but Jamestown's Charlie Clark denied Jannes Kuehn.
- The Red Raiders had the momentum to begin the second half, getting off four shots and winning a pair of corner kicks just over 21 minutes in.
- In the 70th minute, UJ's Kael Calder came away with possession a few yards into the Jimmie offensive half and found Charlie Archer with just one man to beat. Archer took a dribble and with his right foot from 25 yards out, unleashed a booming strike that found the top right corner of the net, making it 1-0 for Jamestown.
- Jamestown took advantage of some Red Raider misfortune in the 82nd minute. As a NWC defender tried to play a ball down the sideline towards the keeper, he lost his footing inside the box and Jake Simson, who had followed in pursuit, came away with the ball. The tackle attempt brought Simson down outside of goal and resulted in a penalty shot. Simson beat the keeper to the right side and extended the Jimmie lead to 2-0.
