The University of Jamestown ACHA D2 Men's Hockey Team started their season at home with an overtime win against North Dakota State. The Jimmies ended the game with 3:23 left in the extra time.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman and a towny Brooks Roaldson scored an unassisted goal with 1:21 left in the third quarter to put the Jimmies ahead of the Bison 3-2. Jacob Pierson answered with his hat-trick goal for the Bison, assisted by Caden Carter, sending the teams into overtime.
- Freshman James Poole scored the sudden-death goal, securing the Jimmies a 4-3 victory. The assist came from Alek Erichuk, his second of the night.
- The Bison were the lone scorers in the first period off of a power-play goal by Pierson, assists to Clay Ihrke and Kyan Rieder.
- The Jimmies bounced back to score two in the second period. One goal came from Tyler Ralph, assists to Erichuk and Tanner Freed, and the lone power-play marker came from Spencer Schipferling, assist to Roaldson.
FOR THE JIMMIES
- The Jimmies outshot the Bison 40-34.
- Baker had 31 saves.
- The Jimmies were one for three on power plays and four for five on penalty kills.
FOR THE BISON
- Hillstrom had 36 saves.
- The Bison were one for five on power plays and two for three on penalty kills.
