MINOT, N.D. – The University of Jamestown women's wrestling team had its first dual competitions of the season on Saturday at the Beaver Bash Duals, hosted by Minot State University. In the opener, Dickinson State University defeated the Jimmies 40-8, then the host Beavers narrowly came out on top against UJ, 22-15.
Jamestown was open at five different weights against Dickinson State, giving the Blue Hawks 25 of their 40 team points.
Ann Marie Meiman won a 9-8 decision at 138 pounds and Alyssa Johnson pinned Lena-Mae Nelson in 0:34 at 160 pounds to account for the UJ victories.
Minot State won three of the five contested matches against Jamestown. Meiman pinned Lovey Beebe in 3:59 for a win at 138, and Johnson won by 11-0 tech fall at 160 pounds against Haleigh Lematta.
Both teams were open at 110 and 117, and the Jimmies earned another five points with the Beavers open at 103 pounds.
UJ is back in action on Saturday, December 7 at the Chadron State Open in Chadron, Neb.
