Jimmies lose road game to Minot State

Minot, N.D. – The University of Jamestown men's basketball team lost to the Minot State University Beavers on Thursday evening. Silas Bennion led the Jimmies with 19 points, shooting 80% from behind the arc and 63.6% on field goals. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Beavers opened the first half with 10 straight points, forcing the Jimmies to play catch-up early. 
  • Down by 14 points, the Jimmies started a run after a Jimmy Llinas layup with seven minutes remaining. They scored 11 points to the Beavers three to end the half down by only eight (30-38). 
  • The Beavers scored first in the second half to quickly regain their double-digit lead. The Jimmies fought to stay in the game, and a three-pointer from Bennion with a pass from Spencer Barr at 12:12 gave them their smallest deficit to the Beavers (53-55). 
  • The Jimmies began to fall behind as the Beavers outscored them 13 to 5 in the following four minutes. Unable to overcome the deficit in the time remaining, the Jimmies fell to the Beavers 74-86. 
  • Following Bennion in double figures were Anthony Walters with 18 and Llinas with 14. Llinas also tagged on eight rebounds and three blocks.
