HOW IT HAPPENED

  • For the second straight game, Ezra Belingheri recorded a defensive touchdown for the Jimmies. Belingheri picked off a Dylan LaMont pass and returned it 39 yards to the end zone. Aanon Peterson's extra point gave UJ a 7-0 lead with 7:07 left in the first half.
  • Zach Hammett's three-yard touchdown run capped off a 6-play, 59-yard drive that put Jamestown ahead 14-0 with 11:46 to play in the third quarter.
  • The Comets got a defensive touchdown of their own as Jordan Richardson took a Johnny Grann pass the other way for 23 yards, cutting UJ's lead to 14-7 with 5:44 remaining in the third.
  • MSU tied the game with 6:43 left on a Jack Simmers 1-yard touchdown run, but Jamestown wasted little time in responding.
  • Faced with a 3rd and 13 on the UJ 27, Grann found Roebuck on an inside route near the 40, and Roebuck escaped a tackle attempt and went all the way to the end zone for the go-ahead score at the 4:54 mark of the fourth.
  • With 1:39 left in the game, MSU took over on their own 23-yard line, but three straight incomplete passes and a sack by Jack Young on fourth down gave the Jimmies the ball back, and Jamestown ran out the clock for the win.
  • Hammett recorded his first 100-yard game for the Jimmies, finishing with 116 yards on 17 carries.
  • Carlos Julian rushed 12 times for 54 yards. Grann completed 8 passes for 147 yards and was intercepted three times.
  • Roebuck, Ethan Hoffman, and Erastus Antsino each had 2 catches.
  • Jed Rantz had a team high 9 tackles, followed by Parker Chaffee with 8. Belingheri also finished with 8 tackles, 2 ½ tackles for loss, and had a forced fumble and fumble recovery to go along with his interception.
