HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jamestown 7, Briar Cliff 0
Grann finished off an 80-yard, seven play drive with a 15-yard touchdown run. A 20-yard pass from Grann to Colton Schumacher followed by a 26-yard toss to Micah Madyun on the next play helped get the Jimmies into Charger territory.
- Briar Cliff 8, Jamestown 7
The Chargers took over on the UJ 10-yard line following a sack and fumble recovery by Carlos Lopez. Matthew Mason rushed for five yards on first down, then was brought down by Vandal for a three-yard loss on the following play. On third-and-8, Mason barreled into the end zone, and the two-point conversion put BCU ahead by one.
- Briar Cliff 11, Jamestown 7
After forcing the Jimmies to punt from their own 6-yard line, Briar Cliff took over at the UJ 29 with 5:21 remaining in the half. Aided by a Jamestown roughing the passer and pass interference penalties, the Chargers had the ball at the Jimmies' one-yard line. Gavin Dobson appeared to have tossed a touchdown pass to Steven Whiting, but an illegal motion penalty nullified the score. Another illegal motion penalty pushed the ball back to the 10, and after getting to the eight-yard line, Jacob Myers made a 25-yard field goal with 1:11 left in the second quarter.
- Jamestown 14, Briar Cliff 11
The Jimmies used a 28-yard return by Rashawn Benners on the second-half kickoff to start at the BCU 39-yard line. Grann was sacked for a 10-yard loss on 3rd and 8, and after an incomplete pass, the Jimmies faced 4th and 18 from the Charger 47. Christian Owens lined up in punt formation, but after receiving the snap, completed a pass to Erastus Antsino to the BCU 12. Cory Carignan was penalized for targeting on the play, and the yardage awarded moved UJ down to the six-yard line. Grann found Roebuck on the next play and Jamestown was back in the lead.
- Briar Cliff 18, Jamestown 14
The lead changed hands once again as BCU used its defense to find the end zone. Carlos Lopez recorded a sack of Grann, stripping the ball free and recovering it for an 18-yard touchdown.
- Jamestown 21, Briar Cliff 18
Grann called his own number on second down from the Charger 16 yard line, running the exact play that resulted in the first Jimmie touchdown. UJ started on its own 49 and was helped out by a nine-yard run from Hammett and a 20-yard reception by Roebuck to get into the red zone.
- Briar Cliff 25, Jamestown 21
The first of three Davies to Okoro scoring passes came with 13:05 remaining, as Okoro hauled in a 24-yard reception to cap off a five-play drive covering 63 yards.
- Briar Cliff 32, Jamestown 21
After forcing the Jimmies to punt, Briar Cliff took over at their own 32 yard line and went the length of the field to go up by two scores. Davies completed passes of 11 yards to Okoro and 21 yards to Jaiden Aavery-Stowers, and Mason gained 22 more yards on three rushes to help BCU get down to the UJ 13. On third-and-seven from the 13, Okoro hauled in his second score of the game to make it an 11-point game.
- Briar Cliff 32, Jamestown 24
Although the Jimmies didn't find the end zone on the ensuing drive, they still put points on the board as Aanon Peterson made a 32-yard field goal with 4:55 to play. A 32-yard pass from Grann to Ryan Collins put Jamestown in prime field position, but the Charger defense forced three straight incompletions before the UJ field goal try.
- Briar Cliff 39, Jamestown 24
BCU delivered what appeared to be the knockout blow to the Jimmies after recovering an onside kick attempt at the UJ 49. On third-and-12 from the Jamestown 41, Davies completed his third touchdown pass of the quarter to Okoro as 3:11 remained on the clock.
- Briar Cliff 39, Jamestown 30
The Chargers were called for three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on their previous touchdown and extra point try, moving the ball back to the BCU 5 for the kickoff. Starting at the BCU 38, Grann completed passes of 28 and 10 yards to Roebuck, the second pass resulting in a touchdown with 2:51 to play.
