The 4-0 University of Jamestown women's volleyball team will head to Southeastern Wisconsin for four matches at the Hampton Inn Invitational this weekend on Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5.  
 
Competition in the Hampton Inn Invitational will be a step up from the Hardrocker Volleyball tournament that the Jimmies played in the previous weekend as three of their four opponents heading to Wisconsin are receiving votes to be ranked inside the top 25 of the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
 
Jamestown will play Purdue University Northwest on Friday at 10 a.m., and then the tournament hosts (RV) the University of Wisconsin at Parkside at 2 p.m. The next day, UJ will have another morning match, this time against (RV) Nova Southeastern University at 10:00 a.m., followed by (RV) Hillsdale College at 12:00 p.m.

The Teams
 
The start of the 2026 season could not have gone much better for the Jamestown Jimmies. UJ went 4-0 at the Hardrocker Volleyball Tournament this past weekend, including sweeps of Chadron State College and the University of Minnesota Crookston, and four-set wins over Lake Superior State University and the hosting team South Dakota Mines.
 
Offensive leaders for the Jimmies include Caroline Puetz and Gracie Adamson. Puetz has a team high 38 kills (2.71 per set) with a .286 attacking percentage (38-12-91). Puetz also leads the team with 11 blocks. Gracie Adamson, who was named Hardrocker Volleyball Tournament MVP, totaled 36 kills, a .244 attacking percentage (36-14-90), as well as 45 digs and four service aces. With her 3.6 kills per set, and 4.5 digs per set, Adamson ranks fourth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in both those categories.
 
Senior defensive specialist Sophie Ketterling earned a spot on the Hardrocker All-Tournament Team by recording 82 digs across 14 matches. Ketterling recorded at least 16 digs in every match and set a career-best 29 digs in only three sets against Chadron State College (9.67 digs per set). By averaging 5.86 digs per set on the weekend, Ketterling earned NSIC Defensive Player of the Week. The North Dakota native sits atop the conference in digs per set and is sixth in all of Division II volleyball.
 
Collectively, the Jimmies have done great defensively as they lead the NSIC in digs per set and are 12^th in the country with an average of 18.36.
 
Jamestown will first take on the Purdue Northwest Lions who are 1-3 after participating in the Ferris State Invitational last weekend. The Lions fell to Minnesota State University, defending national champions Metropolitan State University, Denver, and Emporia State University, but won their final game against the University of Illinois at Springfield.
 
Leaders for the Lions include Anika Huelskamp, who has a team-high 19 kills and is second on Purdue Northwest with 20 digs. Chloe Deckard is right behind Huelskamp with 17 kills. Ainsley Johnson will be another player to make note of with the freshman only playing in six sets but totaling seven blocks and 13 kills. Freshman setter Addison Smith leads the team in both assists (54) and digs (24) while Kennedy Rowzee has a team-best nine blocks.
 
Purdue Northwest finished last season 13-13 with a 7-9 record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Lions are dead last in the GLIAC in several categories including kills per set, assists per set and digs per set.   
 
The next opponent for the Jimmies will be the UW Parkside Rangers, another GLIAC school and the hosting team of the Hampton Inn Invitational. The Rangers received seven points to be ranked inside the top 25 after they went 3-1 at at the Britkare/Lady Buff Invitational hosted by West Texas A&M University. The Rangers beat the tournament hosts in five sets, who were also ranked No. 19 in the AVCA preseason poll. Parkside's only loss came in their final game against (RV) Oklahoma Baptist University.
 
Avery Polavin and Sierra Kilbourn lead the Rangers offense with the duo combining for nearly half the team's kills so far. Polavin has 61 kills and ranks in the top ten of the GLIAC in kills per set with 3.39, while Kilbourn has 59 kills and is hitting .333 so far on the season (59-17-126). It will be a good battle of star defensive specialists when the Jimmies play the Rangers as Natalie Harris is right behind Ketterling averaging 5.78 digs per set. This mark places her atop the GLIAC and seventh in the nation.
Parkside is coming off a solid season, where they went 19-9 and 9-7 in the conference in 2025 which included an appearance in the GLIAC Semifinals. The Rangers are currently third in the GLIAC with 15.53 digs per set as well as 12.6 assists per set.
 
In day two of tournament, the Jimmies will first play against the Nova Southeastern Sharks. The Sharks have amassed 26 points in the AVCA poll after going 4-0 in a tournament they hosted. At the 2026 Shark Invitational, Nova Southeastern swept Middle Georgia State University, beat UNC Pembroke twice, then swept Palm Beach Atlantic University.
 
The Sharks have a versatile attack with four players averaging over two kills per set. This is led by Caiden Largent who has 55 kills and 3.93 kills per set with the kills per set placing her fourth in the Sunshine State Conference. Natalya Bergant and Erika Spankus have 46 and 44 kills respectively, and Hadley Dantzler has 34 kills and a highly efficient .415 attacking percentage (34-7-65). Abbie Roth was named SSC Setter of the Week last week with 11.43 assists per set, a mark that ranks her ninth in the country. Defensively, Taylor Teaman averages 4.57 digs per set and has 64 overall to back in the Nova Southeastern defense.  
 
The Sharks went 18-11 overall in 2025 with a 11-9 conference record in the very strong SSC. As a team, Nova Southeastern has some of the best offensive numbers in the conference early in the season. This includes a .294 attacking percentage and a conference-high 15.07 kills per set.
 
The final opponent of the weekend will be Hillsdale College with the Chargers sitting undefeated at 3-0 and receiving 11 points to be ranked. Hillsdale took down Indiana University of Pennsylvania, (RV) Wayne State University, and Quincy University at the WSU Warrior Invite last weekend in Detroit.
Ellie Fles will lead the attack for the Chargers, with the junior third in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in kills per set with 3.73 and third overall totaling 41. Caroline Lanicek is right behind Fles with 32 kills and is third in the GMAC with a .403 hitting percentage (32-7-62). Other big names to look out for are setter Grace Drake averaging 10.36 assists per set, Chloe Pierce with 49 digs (4.55 per set), and Molly Kennedy who leads the conference with 17 blocks and is seventh in all D-II volleyball with 1.55 blocks per set.
 
Last season, the Chargers struggled early in the year with a 3-8 non-conference record, but turned in around in conference play, finishing fifth in the conference with an 11-4 GMAC record.
The Chargers have the highest attacking percentage in the GMAC (.284) and have also looked sharp defensively with an average of 2.27 blocks per set, and 16.09 digs per set.
 
The Jimmies will meet all four opponents on the volleyball court for the first time this weekend in recorded history.
