SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The University of Jamestown men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, traveling south to face former GPAC opponent Briar Cliff University.

The Teams
Jamestown (1-4-3) enters Wednesday's matchup against the Chargers having lost three of their last four matches. The Jimmies dropped a 2-0 decision in Nampa, Idaho on Saturday to Northwest Nazarene University. NNU outshot UJ 14-4 overall and also held a 5-0 edge in shots on target.

Nuutti Norhomaa is the Jimmies' leading scorer with seven points (three goals, one assist), followed by
Andrei Filho with three points (one goal, one assist).
Valon Ismaili has posted a 2.50 goals-against average while playing all 720 minutes in goal. Ismaili has 52 saves and a pair of clean sheets in eight matches.
Briar Cliff has played to a 4-4-1 record through nine matches overall and are 1-1-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Chargers drew 1-1 at Midland University on Saturday, and prior to a 3-1 loss at Morningside University, last won on September 19, defeating Hastings College 2-1 at home.
Philipp Kalz put BCU ahead against Midland in the 10
th minute, but the Warriors found an equalizer in the 87
th minute to salvage a draw.
Briar Cliff finished at an even .500 at 8-8-3 overall and 4-4-2 in the GPAC in 2025. The Chargers were picked to finish fifth out of 11 teams in the GPAC Preseason Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll.
Ignacio Barrios has four goals to lead Briar Cliff in scoring, and his two assists give hime a total of 10 points, also tops on the club. Barrios posted a goal in each of the Chargers' first three matches this season, but has been held to one goal over his past six appearances. Mario Granjo has three goals and two assists for eight points, while Ruben Figueroa and Alejandro Illan each have a pair of assists.
BCU is averaging 1.78 goals per game, which ranks fifth in the GPAC. Their goals-against average of 2.00 is eighth in the conference. Lucas Attanasio has started eight of nine matches in goal and has made 32 saves and conceded 12 goals for a GAA of 1.51.

Jamestown and Briar Cliff last met on October 28, 2023, with the Chargers coming away with a 1-0 victory, pushing BCU's winning streak against UJ to eight matches. The Jimmies last defeated the Chargers on September 12, 2015, by a score of 3-2 in Sioux City.
