Jimmies Stay Perfect with Two Thrilling Wins in Bubble Tournament

Jamestown, N.D—The University of Jamestown softball team extended its season-opening winning streak to four games on Friday, grinding out two hard-fought victories during the Nelson Family Bubble Tournament. The Jimmies showcased their resilience, overcoming early deficits in both contests to secure 7-6 and 5-4 wins.

Game 1: Jamestown 7, Mary 6

In a back-and-forth battle, the Jimmies utilized a 13-hit attack to outlast the Marauders.

The Lead: Jamestown edged out Mary 7-6, punctuated by a late insurance run that proved to be the difference.

The Bats: Trinity Gregg was a major catalyst, going 2-for-4 with a clutch RBI double in the seventh inning. Madelyn Webb and Maddie Spaeth each collected two hits, with Madelyn Webb driving in a run on a fourth-inning double.

The Circle: Abby Blair earned the win in a gritty complete-game effort, striking out six Marauders over seven innings.

The Turning Point: Down 2-1 in the third, the Jimmies surged ahead with three runs. Sydney Grendler, Natalie Draper, and Kate Geiszler each recorded RBI singles in the frame to seize a lead they would not relinquish.

Game 2: Jamestown 5, Northern State 4

The Jimmies completed the Friday sweep by taking down Northern State in a defensive battle that saw Jamestown capitalize on a big fourth inning.

The Lead: Jamestown moved to 4-0 on the year with a 5-4 victory over the Wolves.

The Bats: The Jimmies' offense came alive in the fourth, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Amanda Burch that tied the game at 3-3. Peyton Quam and Trinity Gregg followed with RBI singles to give UJ the lead for good.

The Circle: Hope Ransome improved to 2-0 on the season, pitching a complete game. Despite allowing 11 hits, she limited the damage and held the Wolves scoreless over the final two frames to seal the win.

The Turning Point: Trailing 3-1 entering the bottom of the fourth, the Jimmies exploded for four runs on five hits to flip the scoreboard.
