SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Jamestown women's tennis team fell 7-0 to Augustana on Saturday morning at GREATLIFE Woodlake.
The Jimmies managed one victory in doubles play. At the No. 1 spot, the duo of
Bodil van Zeijl and
Julie van Zeijl defeated Mia Garcia and Simone Karaouza by a score of 6-4.
However, Augustana secured the doubles point with wins on the remaining courts. Rhidaim Yang and Smilte Bakyte defeated
Laia Vallespi and
Sydney Friesen 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Fernanda Sandoval and Chelsea Seidewitz defeated
Anna Sharandachenko and Mariia Sharandachenk 6-2.
Augustana swept the singles matches to complete the dual victory. The most competitive match came at No. 1 singles, where
Julie van Zeijl battled Mia Garcia to a second-set tiebreak before falling 6-4, 7-6.
At No. 2 singles, Fernanda Sandoval defeated
Bodil van Zeijl 6-1, 6-4.
The remaining singles matches were decided in straight sets:
