LAREDO, Texas — The University of Jamestown men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Texas A&M International on Friday evening at Dustdevil Field.
The Jimmies (1-2-0) struck first when Felipe Costa netted his first goal of the season in the 24th minute. Jamestown's lead held until the 35th minute, when the Dustdevils pulled level through Alejandro Vargas, assisted by Mason Miller.
After halftime, TAMIU took control. Heiko Droemer put the Dustdevils ahead in the 59th minute, and Maximo Cabral added insurance with a goal in the 78th minute, assisted by Luis Paniagua.
Texas A&M International outshot Jamestown 15-8, putting 10 shots on target compared to the Jimmies' four. The Dustdevils also earned more corner kicks (5-2), while both sides were whistled for 11 fouls apiece.
Valon Ismaili made seven saves for the Jimmies in a full 90 minutes of action. Nicklas Berg-Eriksen earned the win in goal for TAMIU, finishing with three saves.
The Jimmies return to the pitch on Sunday, September 14, when they face Texas A&M–San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas.
