Jimmies Split Games on Saturday in Oakland City, IN

The University of Jamestown men's volleyball team split their games Saturday in Oakland City, IN. First the Jimmies fell to Reinhardt University 3-1 and won the second matchup against University of Rio Grande (Ohio) 3-0

Score: Jamestown 1, Reinhardt University 3 (25-15, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Jimmies jumped out in the first set to a fast 3-0 lead with a kill by Benjamin Allred and two by Tomasz Swiderski
  • The Eagles climbed back and tied the game 4-4 with errors from the Jimmies
  • The Jimmies answered the call and went on a 8-1 scoring run to take a commanding 18-8 lead
  • The Jimmies were firing from all cylinders and a kill by Tysen Myers gave the Jimmies the set 25-15
  • In the second set the Jimmies jumped out to 5-3 lead over the Eagles but as before the Eagles were able to tie 7-7
  • The set was close but it was a 7-1 scoring run by the Eagles that gave them separation from Jimmies and a 19-12
  • The Jimmies battled but eventually dropped the set 25-20
  • In the third set the Jimmies again found themselves with a a lead 5-2 but as before the Eagles were able to tie it up at 7-7 
  • The Jimmies answered back this time with a 3-0 scoring run with a kill by Benjamin Allred coupled with errors by the Eagles leading 10-7
  • The Eagles answered back with their own 3-0 scoring run overtaking the lead 15-13
  • The set was. a back and forth battle but a short 2-0 scoring run by the Eagles gave them the set 25-23
  • In the fourth set the Jimmies took an early 7-5 lead over the Eagles 
  • The Eagles battled back taking an 11-9 lead
  • The Jimmies answered with a 4-0 scoring run regaining the lead 13-11
  • The Eagles went on a 6-0 scoring run overtaking the lead 17-13
  • After a timeout the Jimmies went on a 4-0 scoring run with kills by Tomasz Swiderski and Tysen Myers to take a 20-19 lead over the Eagles 
  • The Eagles responded with a 3-0 scoring run which lifted them above the Jimmies delivering them the set and the match with a 25-22 win

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The start of the first set the Jimmies started out hot and took a commanding 9-3 lead over the Storm   
  • The Storm however were able to make a comeback late with errors made by the Jimmies tieing the match 21-21 
  • The Jimmies were able to finish the set on out scoring the Storm 4-1 to take the first set 25-22
  • In the second set the Jimmies again took a commanding 11-2 lead led by kills and an ace by Tomasz Swiderski and Markam Cook   
  • This time there was no comeback from the Storm and the Jimmies coasted to an easy 25-15 set win 
  • In the third set the Jimmies were in full control of the match  
  • The Storm were able to bring the match within three 20-17 but a 5-1 scoring finish for the Jimmies delivered them the set and match win 25-18
