The University of Jamestown men's volleyball team faced an unexpected setback as they suffered their first-ever loss on home turf to #7 Benedictine Mesa University in Day 1 of the UJ Invitational in Jamestown, N.D Thursday evening at the Harold Newman Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jimmies and the Redhawks were in a battle trading scores but a 5-0 scoring run by the Redhawks left the Jimmies in a hole 16-11
- The Jimmies quickly answered back and went on a 4-0 run of their own to tie the game 17-17
- It was again a back and forth battle but a 3-0 run led by kills by Tomasz Swiderski,Gabriel Ocasio and Michal Niemiec gave the Jimmies a 25-23 set one victory
- In the second set the Jimmies started of strong matching point for point but the Mustangs pulled away going on a 5-0 scoring run to pull ahead 9-4 and another 3-0 run to leave the Jimmies behind 14-8
- The Jimmies fought back going on a 7-0 run led by two blocks from Benjamin Allred and two kills from Tomasz Swiderski and tying the game 15-15
- The Redhawks came back on a 5-0 scoring run to eventually take the second set 25-18
- The Mustangs answered back to get pull ahead 16-15 but the Jimmie did not roll over and two 2-0 scoring runs lifted the Jimmies to a 2
- Another 4-0 run by the Redhawks left the Jimmies behind again and like before the Jimmies rallied back to with one 23-22 but a serve error by the Jimmies led to set point for the Redhawks and the Jimmies dropped the third set 25-22
- The Jimmies fell behind early again in the fourth but this time the magic had ran out and the Jimmies could not rally back and dropped the set and the match 25-18
