JAMESTOWN, N.D.-- A goal by Wisconsin Eau Claire with 1:13 left in the third period proved to be the difference as the University of Jamestown ACHA Division 2 women's hockey team fell 2-1 Saturday afternoon at John L. Wilson Arena.
After a scoreless first period, the Blugolds scored with 1:55 left in the second. Patience King-Henke took a pass from Lexie Meyer and found the back of the net to give her team a 1-0 lead.
The score remained 1-0 until late in the third. At the 17:52 mark,
Leah Amsler brought the Jimmies level with an unassisted goal.Â
Reese Sheehan's unassisted goal put the visitors in front with 73 seconds remaining and proved to be the difference for a 2-1 victory.
Shots were 32-28 in favor of Jamestown. UJ goalie
Makenzie Gibson stopped 26 of 28 shots before being lifted for an extra skater with 30 seconds in the game. Claire Bekkum had 31 saves for Wisconsin Eau Claire.
The two teams finish their weekend series at John L. Wilson Arena on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
