MINOT, N.D. – The tenth-ranked University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 women's hockey team dropped a tight 2-1 contest to No. 5 Minot State University on Friday afternoon at Maysa Arena.
After a defensive battle that saw two scoreless periods, the offense picked up in the third. Minot State broke the deadlock at 6:47 of the final frame with a goal from Kaitlyn Snyder, assisted by Payton Lang.
The Beavers extended their lead to 2-0 at 14:35 when Marlie Rutherford netted the eventual game-winner, with assists credited to Makenna Beard and Karlyn Gudz.
Jayden Baker got the Jimmies on the board late in the game, scoring an unassisted goal at 17:11 to cut the deficit to 2-1. Despite the late push, Jamestown was unable to find the equalizer.

Maddie Sylvestre had a solid outing in net, making 18 saves on 20 shots. Jillian Ackerman earned the win for Minot State, stopping 14 of the 15 shots she faced.
Minot State outshot Jamestown 20-15 in the contest. Both teams were held scoreless on special teams, with the Jimmies going 0-for-1 on the power play and the Beavers also finishing 0-for-1.
The teams conclude their weekend series on Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
