JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The No. 10 University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 women's hockey team fell 5-3 to fourth-ranked Minot State University on Saturday afternoon at the John L. Wilson Arena.
Minot State jumped out to a fast start, scoring four goals in the first period to take control of the game. The Beavers scored at 3:58 (Kaitlyn Snyder), 16:10 (Abby Tallman), and 17:45 (Krissy Rink, power play) to build their lead.
The Jimmies got on the board late in the first when Maddison Andrew scored an unassisted goal at 19:18, making the score 4-1 at the intermission.
Andrew struck again early in the second period, scoring at the 2:41 mark with an assist from Samantha Beaulac to cut the deficit in half. However, Minot State answered at 14:41 with a goal from Olivia Kirwan to push their lead to 5-2.
Jamestown's Emma Durand scored the game's final goal, unassisted, at 19:26 of the third period.
The Jimmies utilized both goaltenders in the contest. Lilah Drew started the game and took the loss, making 9 saves on 13 shots in 17:45 of action. Maddie Sylvestre played the remaining 42:15, stopping 22 of the 23 shots she faced.
Minot State outshot Jamestown 36-21. The Beavers were a perfect 1-for-1 on the power play, while the Jimmies were 0-for-3.
