Four first-period goals set the tone for the fourth-ranked Jimmie men's hockey team as they defeated No. 5 University of Mary 8-2 Friday evening at John L. Wilson Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jordan Baranesky opened and closed the first period scoring for Jamestown. His first goal came at 10:49 and was assisted by Keaton Cline, then with five seconds left in the period, Baranesky extended UJ's lead to 4-0 with a power play goal assisted by Brad Fortin.
- In between, Malachi Franklin made it 2-0 at 13:23 from Logan Berggren and Brenden Vulcano, and Reid Wilson's power play goal from Alek Erichuk and Matthew Poole at 16:23 put the Jimmies ahead by three.
- UMary got on the board with a goal by Seth Cushing at 3:36 of the second period, but Jamestown countered with two goals of their own.
- Carter Johnson scored at 7:09 from Jake Huculak and Wilson added UJ's sixth goal at 10:58 from Kole Christensson.
- Seventy seconds into the final period, Fortin made it 7-1 on assists by Christensson and Wilson.
- The Marauders picked up their second goal of the night at 3:53 as Tanner Eskro scored his ninth of the season from Seth Cushing and Kyle Hayden.
- Vulcano recorded his first of the season at 10:14 from Christensson and Fortin as the Jimmies regained a six-goal lead.
FOR THE JIMMIES
- Brandon Weare had 26 saves in goal.
- Jamestown outshot UMary 60-28.
- UJ's eight goals were the most scored against the Marauders in their series history. The previous mark came on November 11, 2020 when the Jimmies won 7-2 on the road.
